Partnership Development Manager


Heather worked as a School Sport Coordinator and PE teacher for 6 years before moving into the Partnership Development Manager role at City Academy in September 2007. She worked across two different school sport partnerships before becoming a PDM and brings lots of experience in to the role and is able to provide plenty of support for the SSCo's and PLT's.

Heather is also a School Governor, foster carer and keen golfer (when she can find the time!)

Nicola Parsons

Sports & Website Administrator


Nicola brings strong administration and organisational skills coupled with a genuine love of sports to her role as Administrator. She has played League Hockey and Basketball in Bristol, and has gained qualifications as a Community Sports Leader, Level 1 Football Association Coach, and Level 1 Teaching Assistant. Nicola has also coached Girls football for the last 6 years, and Tag Rugby at Primary School level.

Nicola works fulltime as our Website & Sports administrator and is the main point of contact for information on partnership days, calendar dates, training etc.

Peter divides his time between the 3 Bristol School Sport Partnerships, working with 14 Specail Schools and Units that includes profound, severe and moderate learning difficulties, sensory impaired pupils, those with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, those attending Pupil referral Units, Autistic spectrum disorder, hospital education service users and young mothers. The range of pupils ranges from nursery to post 16. Peter also provides limited events and workshops for pupils with SEN and disability in mainstream schools.

Peter offers staff training across Bristol in TOPs Sportsability and Inclusive PE, and also TOPs OUTDOORS. Peter is a keen cyclist and this year is rolling out Snag Golf, Disc/Frisbee/Kite Sports and Cup Sports Stacking with his cluster of special schools and units, he transports the equipment in a huge bike trailer and arrives breathing heavily.

Full time SSCo leading on the Club Links and Extended Activity strands of the PESSYP strategy. Nigel also supports Peter Clayton with a variety of Disability Programmes.

He played rugby for twenty years, until recently, and played cricket before his teaching career.

Lucy joined the Partnership five years ago as the KS1 Sports Co-ordinator.

She is now a "Jack-Of-All-Trades" linking with Bristol Brunel Academy, and leading on Parental Engagement accross the partnership.

Lucy still does some Key Stage 1 work, and supports the team with Intra School Competition opportunities accross KS1 and KS2.

An all-round Key Stage 1 "specialist" with skills ranging from the curriculum areas of gym, games and (ahem) dance, playground games, multi-skills, sport-stacking, tri-golf, parachute games, OAA etc - as well as a particular interest in daily physical activity such as Physical Brain Gym/Wake and Shake etc.

Andrew is also a level 1 tennis coach. Andrew teaches at Air Balloon Hill Infants School Tuesdays – Thursdays.

Sarah Fear

Teaching & Learning Specialist Key Stage 2


Sarah has recently joined the team as a part-time Key Stage 2 "Specialist", focussing on the delivery of High Quality PE.

She is able to deliver a whole range of subjects including gymnastics, dance, g.ames (invasion, striking, net/wall), swimming, multi-skills, athletics, OAA and playground leader activities. The remainder of her week is divided between two Bristol Primary Schools where she is the regular PE Teacher.

Sarah is a keen hockey player, as well as being an umpire and Level 1 coach. Her other interests include skiing, golf and cricket (watching her son not playing!)

Nicola works as a PE teacher and SSCo at Brislington Enterprise School. Her specialist areas of work are gymnastics & dance. Nicola has also delivered a lot of the Young Leaders and Playground Leader courses across her cluster of schools.

She is an experienced PE teacher and is able to provide a wealth of support to her schools through competitions, festivals and out of school hours learning. Nicola is leading on the Gifted & Talented strand of the PESSYP strategy, and also looking at Transition accross the partnership.

Nicola's SSCo days are Tuesday and Friday.

Paul brings a wealth of experience to the role of SSCo at Fairfield High School, having served 34 years as a head of PE. Paul has worked at Lockleaze school, Havant school and, also, in Canada.

Paul recently introduced speed stacking to lots of schools, which has been really successful as an Intra school activity.

Paul will be leading on the Competition strand of the PESSYP strategy accross the partnership where he will work closely with our Competition Managers.

His current interests include basketball, horse racing, skiing and golf.

Sarah returned to St. Mary Redcliffe and Temple School this year to work as a PE teacher and SSCo, following a year as a full time SSCo. She is delighted to be back working purely in the City Academy School Sport Partnership and to be working directly with young people again.

Sarah's specialist area is dance, across all key stages, and she also very much enjoys teaching gymnastics.

Sarah will be leading on the Leadership & Volunteering strand of the PESSYP strategy accross the partnership, and she will also be looking at opportunities for Post 16 students.

Martin Flook

Athletics Coach


As the Partnership dedicated Athletics Coach Martin brings great experience and knowledge to his role. He has been involved in athletics since the age of 10, and is a nationally ranked 800m runner. After being University of Bath Athletics captain for 3 years, and winning regional championships, it was a natural progression to move into coaching.

Martin has worked with Secondary School children at the recent UK School Games, and also Primary School children who won the South West Sportshall Athletics Championship.

Martin was also guide to a partially sighted Paralympic Silver medalsit and European Champion from 1999 to 2003.
